WooCommerce email marketing: no bundled tool, so pick the meter
WooCommerce gives you no free email tool, so every option costs from the first send. Six platforms priced for a 5,000-contact store, and what the integration actually has to carry.
Paid links on this page. Links that begin /go/ are partner links: follow one, subscribe, and the platform sends Reorderly a share of what you pay. Omnisend, Sender and Moosend are the only three that can. Klaviyo, Mailchimp, Brevo and Shopify pay this site nothing and are linked plainly wherever they are the right answer — which, on several pages here, they are. The full arrangement is written down.
WooCommerce stores have no bundled email tool, so every option costs something from the first send — which means the choice is made purely on the meter and on how much of the store's data the integration actually passes across. At 5,000 contacts sending 60,000 emails a month, the platforms here run from $39 to $158.
That is the opposite of the Shopify situation, where a free built-in tool sets the baseline. On WooCommerce there is no baseline, so the first decision is which unit you want to be billed on.
Pick the meter before the platform
Three meters exist among the platforms a WooCommerce store would consider, and they suit different stores.
- Contacts — Omnisend, Sender, Moosend and Mailchimp. Predictable, and you pay for the whole list whether you mail it or not.
- Active profiles — Klaviyo. Forgives a dormant customer file and moves with your own marketing success, which cuts both ways.
- Emails sent — Brevo. Barely cares how large the list is; Brevo's configurator showed 500,000 contacts included at 60,000 emails a month.
A WooCommerce store with years of order history and a small engaged core is exactly the case where the last two meters beat the first, and it is the case most roundups never separate out.
What it costs
| Platform | Monthly rate | Meter | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sender | $39 Standard | Subscribers | Free plan covers 2,500 subscribers and 15,000 emails/mo |
| Moosend | $48 monthly, $38 annual | Contacts | Publishes page-browse and product-view triggers |
| Brevo | $65 monthly, $58.50 yearly | Emails sent | 500,000 contacts included at this send volume |
| Omnisend | $81 Standard, $90 Pro | Contacts | Publishes SMS from $0.007/message |
| Klaviyo | $100 Email, $158 Marketing | Active profiles | Deepest segmentation; publishes no SMS rate |
| Mailchimp | $100 list, $50 first 12 months | Contacts | List rate is exactly double the intro at every tier read |
A WooCommerce store with 5,000 contacts sending about 60,000 emails a month. Read at each vendor's own page on 24 September 2026, in US dollars. Brevo is matched on send volume because that is what it bills.
Mailchimp is drawn at its list rate; its first twelve months are $50. No Shopify Email row appears here, because it requires a Shopify store.
The free route, which genuinely exists
Sender's free plan covers 2,500 subscribers and 15,000 emails a month with automation included and Sender branding on outgoing email. For a WooCommerce store under that size, the whole four-flow setup — cart, browse, post-purchase, reorder — can run at no cost.
That is the largest free tier among the platforms on this site by a wide margin. Omnisend's free tier is 250 contacts and 500 emails a month; Klaviyo's is 250 profiles and 500 emails; Mailchimp's is under 250 contacts with sending paused at the limit. Those three are trials. Sender's is a plan.
What the integration has to carry
This is where WooCommerce differs from a hosted platform, and it is worth being clear about what can and cannot be said here. Every platform on this page publishes a WooCommerce integration. What varies is how much store data moves across — order history, cart contents, product views, customer lifetime value — and how quickly.
Reorderly has not installed these plugins on a live WooCommerce store, so it describes no sync behaviour, no setup time and no reliability comparison. What can be said from published material is which triggers each platform advertises: Moosend names page-browse and product-view triggers explicitly, Omnisend and Klaviyo build their ecommerce automation around the same class of event, and Sender lists advanced ecommerce reports on its Standard plan.
Before committing, install the integration on a staging store and check that the fields your flows depend on actually arrive. That is a real step, and no comparison table can do it for you.
Where the annual-billing offers actually help
Three of these platforms discount for annual billing and they do not behave the same way, which is worth two minutes before committing a year.
Moosend genuinely reduces the standing rate: $48 a month becomes $38 on annual billing at 5,000 contacts. Its headline says twenty per cent, and because it rounds to whole dollars the real figure moves around a little — at 500 contacts $9 becomes $7, which is nearer twenty-two per cent.
Sender does not reduce the standing rate at all. Its page opens on annual billing showing a thirty per cent discount, but that offer is described as valid for first-time users, and the list annual price of $108 a year for Standard works out at exactly $9 a month — the same as paying monthly. The saving is real for a first year and disappears afterwards.
Brevo's yearly rate was within a tenth of a point of ten per cent below its monthly rate at every send volume read, which is the most straightforward of the three.
The reorder flow, which WooCommerce stores tend to need most
WooCommerce is heavily used by stores selling consumables and repeat purchases, which makes replenishment the flow with the clearest return — a message timed to roughly when the last order runs out.
It is also the flow that most often forces a plan upgrade, because it needs purchase history and a delay step rather than a simple trigger. Budget for the tier that includes it rather than the entry tier, on whichever platform you choose.
Transactional email is a separate problem
One thing WooCommerce stores routinely conflate: order confirmations, shipping notices and password resets are transactional email, and they are not what any of the platforms above are priced for.
By default WooCommerce sends those through the hosting server, which is where the familiar problem of order emails not arriving comes from. Marketing platforms are built around campaigns and flows; several of them also offer transactional sending, but that is a distinct product with its own allowance.
This site prices marketing email and says nothing about deliverability, inbox placement or the reliability of any transactional route, because it has measured none of those. The practical point is only that the two jobs are separate, and a marketing platform's monthly rate does not tell you what handling your order confirmations will cost.
All seven platforms, including the Shopify-only option, are priced together in the main comparison.
Questions this page gets asked
What is the best email marketing platform for WooCommerce?
Sender is the cheapest credible option at $39 a month for 5,000 subscribers, and free below 2,500 subscribers and 15,000 emails a month with automation included. Moosend at $48 monthly publishes page-browse and product-view triggers by name. Omnisend at $81 adds published SMS rates and web push. Klaviyo at $100 on its Email plan goes deepest on segmentation. Brevo at $65 suits a large list mailed occasionally, because it bills emails sent rather than contacts. All read at the vendors' own pages on 24 September 2026.
Is there a free email plugin for WooCommerce?
Sender's free plan is the substantial one among the platforms covered here: 2,500 subscribers, 15,000 emails a month, automation included, with Sender branding on outgoing email. That is enough for a small WooCommerce store to run cart, browse, post-purchase and reorder flows at no cost. Omnisend, Klaviyo and Mailchimp all offer free tiers too, but at 250 contacts or fewer they are trials rather than plans.
Does WooCommerce have built-in email marketing?
Not in the way Shopify does. WooCommerce sends transactional order emails, but there is no bundled marketing tool with campaigns and automated flows, so a WooCommerce store pays for email from the first campaign. Shopify stores get 10,000 emails a month free from Shopify's own tool, which is why the cost comparison between the two platforms starts from different places.
How do I choose between contact pricing and emails-sent pricing?
Compare your list size with your monthly send volume. If you mail most of your list most months, a contact meter is straightforward and usually cheaper. If you have a large customer file you only mail occasionally, an emails-sent meter avoids paying for people you never contact — Brevo's configurator showed 500,000 contacts included at 60,000 emails a month. A store with 20,000 old customers and 3,000 active ones is the clearest case for not being billed by list size.
Next along the shelf
Abandoned cart email: the flow is free, the one before it is not
Every platform here sends a cart email and two do it free. The upgrade you are actually paying for is browse abandonment — and what each of the four store flows requires.
Shopify email apps: what is worth paying for, and when
Shopify Email gives 10,000 emails a month free, then $1 per 1,000. Two paid platforms undercut it at 60,000 emails — and one feature is the real reason to switch.
Klaviyo alternatives: work out the ratio first
Six credible replacements, priced at 5,000 people. But the decision turns on one number most comparisons skip: how much of your customer file is actually active.
